About Young Music Makers

At the heart of music-making in North London since 1967.

Young Music Makers is an inclusive Saturday music community in North London for children, young people, families, and adults.

Why join us?

Families can explore individual music lessons, inclusive ensembles, choirs, creative groups, and community performance opportunities in one welcoming Saturday setting.

We are very lucky to have some of the best professional musicians in London as part of the YMM family, providing instrumental tuition on piano, violin, viola, cello, recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drum kit, percussion, ukulele, classical, rock-pop and jazz guitar, bass, voice, trumpet and trombone.

We offer a wonderful Early Years programme, where children aged four and up can be creative with music, whilst developing core musicianship skills.

We offer Classical, Jazz, Rock and Pop groups, Early Years, Choirs and a creative program INNOVATE, where we compose music collaboratively.

With 23 different ensembles, including 6 adult groups, whatever your age or ability, we have a group for you!

There is a strong focus on performance, with weekly cafe concerts from 10.45–11.00, a concert at the end of each term showcasing all ensembles and many specialist chamber concerts dotted throughout the year. YMM also loves getting involved with local events. For example, the Parliament Hill and the York Rise street festival.

YMM was established in 1967 and is now based in William Ellis School, NW5, London, next to picturesque Parliament Hill and Hampstead Heath. We have been at the heart of music education in North London for 50 years, offering music lessons and groups for students aged four… to 94!

We regularly fundraise to support students who need financial support.
