Music Technology Tutor

(Summer 2023)

We’re seeking a talented and dynamic Music Technology Tutor who can inspire and guide their pupils towards producing their own work. Most lessons will be one to one but experience in leading groups would be advantageous. Young Music Makers is a non-profit music centre for the whole family which has been at the heart of music-making in North London for over 50 years. We are strong advocates for generic excellence, but over and above that we are committed to the idea that simply having music as part of your life promotes personal and community well-being. You would be joining a team of stellar musicians in a welcoming, supportive environment where there are opportunities to lead and initiate ensembles and connect your artistic practice to teaching.

Required:

  • Enthusiasm for, and dedication to, music education
  • Experience working with a range of DAWs such as Logic, Reaper, Garage Band and Ableton
  • Experience working with music production hardware such as audio interfaces and microphones
  • Experience in composing music
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive music education
  • A positive, pragmatic and flexible attitude

Ideal:

  • Experience in producing music at a professional level
  • Experience with teaching a range of age groups
  • Experience with free software for music production such as Audacity and Pure Data

The candidate will need to possess an enhanced DBS certificate (paper or update service) valid within 3 years upon appointment. Support can be given with applying for this.

  • Fees: £39.40 per hour - Groups over 10+ participants, £34.65 per hour - Groups 4-9 participants, £32.55 per hour - Individual lessons

Zoom interviews during the week beginning May 13, 2024, and teaching assessment on May 18 if successful.
