Role: Reception Assistant for September 2022

Young Music Makers is looking for a resourceful and self-motivated Reception Assistant to join our vibrant North London Music Centre from the Autumn term (17 September 2022).

A good communicator, you’ll provide important support to our busy team for 30 Saturdays a year (Autumn, Spring and Summer terms). A great opportunity to build skills and experience.

Dates: 10 Saturdays per term, starting 17 September (see term dates here)

Times: 08.00-15.30, including an unpaid ½ hour lunch break

Rate: London Living Wage: £11.05 per hour (self-employed)

Where: Young Music Makers (YMM) Saturday Music School, Highgate Road, NW5

Main duties:

  • Support the smooth running of Young Music Makers, maintaining excellent relationships with existing and new students, YMM staff and trustees.
  • Provide a welcoming presence at the Front Desk at YMM
  • Set out the refreshment station for tutors
  • Provide support to the Front of House manager as required - including delivering instruments to tutors and escorting students to their lessons.
  • Carry out admin support tasks as directed by the School Director - including printing, copying, poster/flyer design in CANVA.
  • Support YMM’s covid approach, including wipe down of hand wash basins, instruments and communal surfaces (as required)
  • Support the team of YMM ‘roadies’ to move instruments around the site (as required)
  • Agree to carry out first aid training to be able to provide First Aid support on site on a Saturday morning and at concerts (as required)


Required:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS certificate (YMM can arrange if you do not have this)
  • Contact details of two referees (name, number and email)
  • Safeguarding training certificate (arranged by YMM on appointment)

Desirable:

  • A musical background
  • Relevant experience in similar roles

Role: Peripatetic Violin Tutor for September 2022

Where: Young Music Makers (YMM)Saturday School, Highgate Road. NW5.

Duties: 1-to-1 Violin teaching with experience in all genres.

Rate: £29.50ph individual teaching, £29.50-35.50ph for groups.

Date: From 17 September 2022. 10 Saturdays per term.

Time: The successful candidate should be available for the duration of the YMM day: 8.45am to 3pm, although pupil numbers may vary during these times.

Required:

  • Enthusiasm for, and dedication to, music education
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive music education
  • A positive, pragmatic and flexible attitude
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching a variety of violin repertoire

Ideal:

  • Experience of taking a student through to grade 8 and beyond in a similar setting
  • Experience with early years/beginner teaching
  • Experience with adult students
  • Experience of teaching both in person and remotely

The candidate will need to possess an enhanced DBS check (paper or update service) valid within 3 years upon appointment.

Role: Peripatetic Trumpet Tutor for September 2022

Where: Young Music Makers (YMM)Saturday School, Highgate Road. NW5.

Duties: 1-to-1 trumpet teaching with experience in all genres.

Rate: £29.50ph individual teaching, £29.50-35.50ph for groups.

Date: From 17 September 2022. 10 Saturdays per term.

Time: The successful candidate should be available for the duration of the YMM day: 8.45am to 3pm, although pupil numbers may vary during these times.

Required:

  • Enthusiasm for, and dedication to, music education
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive music education
  • A positive, pragmatic and flexible attitude
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching a variety of trumpet repertoire

Ideal:

  • Experience of taking a student through to grade 8 and beyond in a similar setting
  • Experience with early years / beginner group teaching
  • Experience with adult students and group teaching, both in person and remotely
  • Knowledge and experience of ensemble teaching

The candidate will need to possess an enhanced DBS check (paper or update service) valid within 3 years upon appointment.

Role: Peripatetic Percussion Tutor for September 2022

Where: Young Music Makers (YMM) Saturday School, Highgate Road. NW5.

Duties: Two primary-age rhythm groups (aged 7-11) and one Adult drumming group. One to one percussion and drum kit with experience of teaching all genres.

Rate: £29.50ph individual teaching, £29.50-35.50ph for groups.

Date: From 17 September 2022. 10 Saturdays per term.

Time: The successful candidate should be available for the duration of the YMM day: 8.45am to 3pm, although pupil numbers may vary during these times.

Required:

  • Enthusiasm for, and dedication to, music education
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive music education
  • A positive, pragmatic and flexible attitude
  • Knowledge and experience of teaching a variety of percussion repertoire
  • Experience with early years / beginner group teaching

Ideal:

  • Experience of taking a student through to grade 8 and beyond in a similar setting
  • Knowledge and experience of ensemble teaching
  • Experience with adult students and group teaching, both in person and remotely
