FAQs

Who is Beginnovate for?

Beginnovate is for children aged 6–7 (Years 2–3). It is an inclusive, creative ensemble where children bring whatever instrument they are learning — or play djembes, xylophones, or ukuleles provided in the session.

Does my child need to play an instrument to join?

No. Percussion and ukuleles are available in the session, so children who are just beginning lessons or haven’t started yet are equally welcome alongside those who already play an instrument.

What does a Beginnovate session involve?

Each term the group develops a new original piece of music together, learning fundamental musical and collaborative skills along the way — rhythm, listening, ensemble awareness, and creative expression.

What happens after Beginnovate?

Children naturally progress to Innovate 1, where they continue creating original music with other young musicians across all instruments.

How do I join?

Just get in touch via our Contact or enquiry page and we will let you know about availability and the best way to get started.

Will there be chances to perform?

Yes. Every group at YMM performs at the end-of-term concert, and many groups also play at weekly café concerts and special events throughout the year.
