FAQs

Who is Choir 1 for?

Choir 1 is for children aged 6–8. It is a fun, welcoming introduction to singing in a group, combining songs with movement games and Orff elements. No experience is needed — just enthusiasm.

Does my child need to be able to sing in tune to join?

Not at all. Choir 1 is designed to build singing confidence from the ground up. Children explore their voices through games and songs, and tuneful singing develops naturally as part of the process.

What kind of music does Choir 1 sing?

A fun mix of educational and engaging songs chosen to develop the voice and spark a love of music — from children’s classics to folk tunes and short original pieces.

Does my child need to be having singing lessons too?

No — Choir 1 is open to all children in the right age range, regardless of whether they have individual lessons. Many members are purely choir singers.

How do I join?

Just get in touch via our Contact or enquiry page and we will let you know about availability and the best way to get started.

Will there be chances to perform?

Yes. Every group at YMM performs at the end-of-term concert, and many groups also play at weekly café concerts and special events throughout the year.
