FAQs

Who is the Community Choir for?

Singing is for everyone — the Community Choir is open to teens and adults of all ages and abilities. No audition, no experience required. If you want to sing and be part of something warm and uplifting, you are welcome.

Do I need to be able to read music?

No. Music is taught by ear in the Community Choir, so reading ability is not required. What matters is enthusiasm and a willingness to listen and participate.

What kind of music does the Community Choir sing?

A broad, joyful mix spanning pop, soul, gospel, folk, and world music — chosen to be both musically satisfying and genuinely fun to sing together.

Do I need to be a YMM student to join?

No. The Community Choir welcomes anyone from the local community, whether or not they have lessons at YMM. It is one of our most open and inclusive groups.

How do I join?

Just get in touch via our Contact or enquiry page and we will let you know about availability and the best way to get started.

Will there be chances to perform?

Yes. Every group at YMM performs at the end-of-term concert, and many groups also play at weekly café concerts and special events throughout the year.
