About this group
One year on from Music Box 1, this class focuses on more advanced musicianship skills, through movement, singing, games and classroom percussion. After this year, children will be well-equipped to start an instrumental group and focus on learning the specifics of their instrument.

What is Music Box 2?
Music Box 2 is for 5–6 year olds (Year 1) who have completed Music Box 1 or have equivalent early musical experience. Sessions focus on more advanced musicianship skills through movement, singing, games, and classroom percussion.
Does my child need to have done Music Box 1?
Music Box 1 is the natural pathway in, but children with similar early musical experience are very welcome. Just get in touch and we can discuss whether Music Box 2 is the right fit.
Do I need to stay with my child during the session?
By Music Box 2 most children are happy to be dropped off independently. Parents who are new to YMM sometimes stay for a few sessions while their child settles in, but this is not usually necessary.
What happens after Music Box 2?
After Music Box 2, children are well-equipped to start an instrumental lesson and join one of YMM’s beginner groups such as Beginnovate or Choir 1.

Will there be chances to perform?
Yes. Every group at YMM performs at the end-of-term concert, and many groups also play at weekly café concerts and special events throughout the year.
