Group changes for Jazz 2 and Chamber Group, why joining a group makes such a difference, and the return of our Café Concerts this Saturday.

🎷 Group Changes
Jazz 2 (Big Band)
Due to a whole host of older students leaving last year, the threshold for Jazz 2 is being lowered to Grade 3 (or equivalent experience).
I would highly recommend all students of this level interested in developing their reading and improvisation to join this group, regardless of their favoured genre.
Jazz is a fantastic and flexible training for participating in many different aspects and genres of music, and we are extremely lucky to have Reuben Fowler at YMM, who arranges for professional bands internationally.
If you are in Jazz 1 and Grade 3, I would recommend doing both groups, as they will help develop different aspects of your playing.

Chamber Group
Chamber Group is now open to both adults and children. This group is also now reset at a Grade 3 entry level, and it's a great opportunity to increase your musicianship exponentially with Jenny Sturt at the helm!

Why join a group?
In general, I would recommend joining a group if you are not already in one. There are many aspects of musicianship which aren't developed simply by practising on your own.
The opportunity to join a friendly, supportive group is one of the great things about YMM, and we have something for everyone. Take a look at all our groups.

🎻 Café Concerts
The Café Concerts are resuming this Saturday! Come down at 10:45 to hear Xanthe play two cello pieces.
Why not make a morning of it? Lucy's café will be serving its delicious homemade cakes and bakes, the new Cheesy Spinach Egg Bites, and freshly brewed coffee, so grab a treat and settle in for some live music.

🎶 Practise in the Café
We're trialling something new: students are welcome to practise in the café! Come down and play anytime. It's a great way to get comfortable playing in front of others and to add to the lovely atmosphere on a Saturday.
