Café Concerts return with Nick Bethune and Emma Arizza, Lucy's treats poll, looking after our building, Emma's County Hall festival, and half-term dates.
Dear YMM Community
Please see below for this week's updates.

🎻 Café Concert This Saturday!
Our weekly Café Concerts are back this Saturday, 17 October, from 10:45 to 11:00!
We're delighted that our performance this week will be a duet from adult student Nick Bethune and his teacher, Emma Arizza. It's a wonderful reminder that YMM is for musicians of every age, and that it's never too late to start, or to step up and perform!
Come down to the café, grab a coffee and one of Lucy's homemade treats, and give Nick and Emma a warm YMM welcome.

🍰 Café Question of the Week: Which Treat Gets You Practising?
Lucy, who runs our community café, has a very important question: which treat will get YMM-ers practising? She's baked up three tempting options, so take a look and cast your vote:
- Fairy Bread Lamingtons
- Jammy Coconut Cakes
- Froggy Madeleines
And for a few more ideas on making practice fun, take a look at our new article, Tips for Practising: Finding Inspiration and Making Every Minute Count.

🏫 Looking After Our Building
We're very lucky to be based at William Ellis School, and we depend on our tenancy there to keep YMM running. Our aim is always to leave the building better than we find it, so we'd be really grateful if everyone could help by following a few simple guidelines:
- No scooters or ball games inside the building
- Please pick up your litter and use the bins provided
- Put back any furniture you move to its original place
Thank you so much for your help in keeping our Saturday home in great shape!

🍂 As the Leaves Turn: An Autumn Festival at County Hall
One of our violin tutors, Emma Arizza, is running the autumn edition of the Four Seasons Festival at County Hall, As the Leaves Turn, on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, and she'd love to welcome YMM students and families along!
It's a lovely programme, with highlights including:
- Young Leaves: a classical concert showcasing young musicians in solo performances (Sunday, 13:00)
- Folk music and Irish dance: a lively opening celebration with storytelling, folk music and Irish dancers (Saturday, 11:00)
- Free children's creative workshop: making paper autumn leaves, followed by movement and drama (Saturday, 14:00)
- Clay leaf-pressing workshop: press real autumn leaves into clay in this beginner-friendly session (Sunday, 15:00)
- Live concerts in the Atrium each evening
Most events are free but need to be booked in advance, as places are limited. A couple, including the clay workshop, are paid. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

📅 Half-Term Reminder
Just a reminder that we're breaking for half-term after this Saturday (17 October). There's no YMM on 24 or 31 October, and we'll be back on Saturday 7 November.
Looking for a way to keep the music going over the break? Emma's As the Leaves Turn festival at County Hall (see above) falls on the first weekend of half-term, 24 and 25 October, and would make a lovely family day out!
You can find all our term dates on the term dates page of our website.
────────────────────────────────────
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
Thanks and best wishes,
John
