Welcoming nearly 50 new students for the new term, a reminder of the YMM ethos, permanent group room changes, and Lucy's new café opening.
Dear YMM Community
We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow, together with nearly 50 new students!

🎵 Explore Your Musical Potential
This feels like a good moment to re-express our ethos at YMM!
We are very lucky to have some of the best professional musicians in London as part of the YMM family. The offer of excellence is built in, but over and above that we stress inclusivity and lifelong participation in music, with all the attendant benefits of developing confidence and collaborative/creative skills.
We want to empower musicians young and old to develop their creative voice, alongside excellent technical skills, and to encourage students to think of themselves as artists. For a classical musician this may mean thinking about context, meaning and emotional expression; for a jazz, Rock & Pop or world musician it may mean developing their improvisational and compositional skills; and for a creator in our Innovate programme or Music Tech, it may mean having an eclectic and ambitious view of creating new work.
At YMM you're able to engage in all of this in a friendly, supportive environment.
There's a strong focus on performance, with weekly café concerts from 10.45–11.00, a concert at the end of each term showcasing all ensembles, and many specialist chamber concerts dotted throughout the year. YMM also loves getting involved with local events — for example, the Parliament Hill and York Rise street festival.

📌 A Reminder From Our Last Newsletter
A couple of items from our Summer Update are worth flagging again as term begins:
- ☕ New café opens tomorrow! Run by Lucy Gillespie, a familiar YMM face — expect homemade bakes, healthy snacks, and freshly brewed Chimney Fire coffee.
- 🎻 New bookings open — group and one-to-one lesson bookings for the year ahead are open. Take a look at all our groups, or email us if you're not sure what's right for your child or yourself.
