Find Your Musical Voice - New Creative Ensembles Just Launched!

We’re delighted to announce that booking is now open for our exciting new INNOVATE ensembles. A fantastic opportunity for your child to experience cutting-edge creative approaches developed for leading musical organisations here on your doorstep!

INNOVATE - What is it?

Young musicians aged 8-15 will learn essential creative skills and gain musical confidence through our exciting (and fun!) INNOVATE ensembles.

Starting on Saturday 25 February, the groups have been developed for YMM based on techniques pioneered by our Musical Director, John K Miles, for leading musical organisations, such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Guildhall.

INNOVATE offers young musicians on ANY instrument (including VOICE) and at ANY level, the chance to work together to create new original music for performance. Students will embrace different traditions and techniques to create infectious grooves, classical textures, improvisation, rich harmonies, songs, and the spoken word.

Whatever specialism or experience, all are very welcome. It's a place to develop musical voice, build confidence in performance and discover a range of new musical skills in a supportive environment.

Who is it for?

There will be space for multiple drummers/percussionists and keyboard players as well as ukuleles, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, violins, violas, cellos, recorders guitars, basses, trumpets, trombones, tubas, and voices! Instruments not taught at YMM will also be welcome.

Price: Standard price per 10-week term: £108.00

Who: Musicians on any instrument at any level (including voice)

Age: 12-15

Time: 9.45am - 10.45am.

Price: Standard price per 10-week term: £108.00

INNOVATE Youth Music Leaders (Age 16-18)

We can offer opportunities as volunteer Youth Music Leaders in the INNOVATE ensembles to build creative musical and leadership skills. Ideal for DofE or ahead of a UCAS application. Open to ages 16-18. Please send expressions of interest to schooldirector@youngmusicmakers.co.uk

INNOVATE for adults

We’re taking expressions of interest from our students over 18, keen to participate in an adult INNOVATE ensemble in the future. Please email musicaldirector@youngmusicmakers.co.uk so that we can assess demand.
