The highlight of our year: the evening Spring concert! This concert is the chance for many of our school-age ensembles to perform in a more formal setting. We have some amazing group collaborations, solo features and bands writing their own music for the occasion!

This end of term concert celebrates a year of marvellous music-making. Many of our choirs and ensembles perform to a packed audience in the grounds of LSU School.

This lunchtime chamber concert features YMM's string groups, as well as students taking individual lessons.

The annual YMM Piano Concert features piano soloists and mixed duos or trios. Students who have piano lessons at YMM have the opportunity to perform on the La Sainte Union grand piano.

Bring your picnics, parasols and dancing shoes! YMM's Jazz and Rock 'n Pop groups will be entertaining crowds at the Parliament Hill Bandstand.

This chamber concert features YMM's acoustic guitar groups, as well as students taking individual lessons in classical, jazz, pop and rock guitar.

The highlight of our year and a wonderful opportunity for our Early Years musicians to perform on the big stage! Come and cheer them on as they show off their new-found skills.

Join Cat Foley, Nancy Hitzig & Annette Walker from Swing Sister Swing team in October & November for free, fun swing dance taster classes, as part of the YMM Café Concert series.

We'll take our inspiration from the Swing Era as well as from blue plaques commemorating Jazz musicians, dancers and singers who lived through the Second World War, like Ronnie Scott and Elisabeth Welch.

Age: Year 8-11

Instrument: All instruments including voice

This online workshop led by YMM's Becca Wilkins will help you hone that skill by focussing on identifying pitch within a piece of music. Improving your aural skills will greatly benefit GCSE and A level students, students taking graded exams and, of course, anyone who plays any musical instrument!

When playing in a band, our ears are our best asset. For example when joining jam sessions, playing with friends or even when we get lost in rehearsals!

This online workshop led by YMM tutor, Becca Wilkins will focus on developing your 'ear' to help you play in a band or ensemble. As well as using formal music theory, students will explore how chords 'feel' and whether they 'lean towards' other chords.

Highly recommended for Music GCSE students who would like help with their listening skills.

Introduction to Improvisation: how to use a melody as a building block

Level: Open

Age: 10+ (including adults)

Instrument: All instruments including voice

This online workshop led by YMM tutor, Becca Wilkins will focus on using a melody as a building block for improvising.

Whether you are a classical violinist or rock drummer, this workshop will help you explore the music you play more fully, as well as introducing you to new genres and ways of approaching performance.

YMM is embarking on a year-long folk project with Junior Strings, Advanced and Junior Guitar Ensembles, Recorder Ensemble and Recorder 2 and senior woodwind students.

The first workshop will be led by our Camden Music Hub partner, the English Folk Dance and Song Society, which is the national folk arts development organisation for England.

Ever wanted to try your hand at jazz piano, learn more about chord voicing, or have the skills to be part of a rock, pop or jazz band? Our piano tutor, Jason Charles-Nelson will take you through the basics of jazz piano for bands.

YMM musicians are opening the York Rise Street Festival with a carnival parade at 12pm.

Join us with your best shakers, bells and whistles on the route from the Dartmouth Arms down to the Laurier Road stage where our flagship YMM Big Band will be entertaining the crowds from 12.15 - 1pm. Don't forget your YMM t-shirt!

So you've learnt your grade pieces and memorised those scales... but what if you want to play in a band? This workshop covers the fundamental skills that you will need for jazz and pop piano.

As a member of the Camden Music Hub, we are the proud hosts of a very special vocal workshop as part of Camden Jazz Connect, an Arts Council-funded project celebrating jazz education in Camden.

'Singing Against the Clock' is presented by Pete Churchill, Professor of Jazz Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London as well as Head of Jazz Voice at the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels. Focussing on the aural tradition in jazz, participants will sing songs in unison and up to four-part harmony without notation, using the most efficient ways of learning by ear.

This concert showcases our senior instrumentalists and is open to grade 5 + students who have individual lessons at YMM.

Organised by YMM student, Ellie Lewy-Sharp as part of her Silver Arts Award, this concert showcases the vocal and songwriting talents of our students and their friends.

The annual YMM Piano Concert features piano soloists and mixed duos or trios. Students who have piano lessons at YMM have the opportunity to perform on the La Sainte Union grand piano.

YMM is celebrating International Jazz Day with a European 'Battle of the Big Bands' concert featuring Junior Jazz and YMM Big Band alongside special guests from Finland, Vaskivuori Big Band and Hamis Big Band.

Tickets will be available to buy with cash on the door, £6/£4. The bar will be open.

Join us for this special celebration of 50 years of family music-making. This evening concert brings together groups and ensembles of all ages to perform a rich and varied programme on the themes of 1967, music by local composers and great anniversaries.

Michael will discuss his songwriting techniques, perform one of his favourite tracks, coach selected students in a 'mini masterclass' and finish with a Q&A.
