Welcome back for the second half of the Summer Term — Autumn Term planning, Music Box progression, this Saturday's Café Concert, and all the remaining concert dates.
Dear YMM Community,
We hope you've all had a wonderful half-term break.
We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back this Saturday for the first of six sessions in the second half of the Summer Term. The final YMM session of the year will take place on Saturday, 11 July.
📅 Looking Ahead to Next Year
As we begin planning for the Autumn Term, we'd be grateful if you could let us know as soon as possible about any changes to your child's YMM programme. This might include:
- Starting a new instrument
- Joining a new group or ensemble
- Changing lessons
- Students moving on to higher education or leaving YMM
Unless we hear otherwise, all lessons and groups will automatically continue into the Autumn Term on a rolling basis.
🎼 Music Box and Group Progression
All Music Box 1 students (Reception) will automatically move into Music Box 2 (Year 1) next year.
As usual, we swap the session times for convenience (from the Autumn Term):
- 🎵 Music Box 1 will run at 9:00 am
- 🎵 Music Box 2 will run at 9:30 am
Students in Years 2 and 3 are very welcome to remain in Beginnovate, as are members of Choir 1.
Students in Years 4–6 may wish to consider progressing to Innovate 1 and Choir 2, and are also welcome to join other ensembles where they have the appropriate level of instrumental experience.
I will send out a full guide to age and grade recommendations for all groups over the next couple of weeks.
🎸 Beginner Ukulele & Recorder Groups
We're considering restarting our beginner Ukulele and Recorder groups next year.
If your child would be interested, please do drop me an email — we'd love to hear from you!
☕ Café Concert This Saturday
Don't miss this Saturday's Café Concert at 10:45 am, featuring performances by Sara Minelli's students.
It's a wonderful opportunity to support our young musicians in an informal and welcoming setting while enjoying a refreshment from the café. A range of hot and cold drinks will be available, alongside delicious homemade pastries, soup and other snacks.
We hope you'll be able to join us!

🎸 Saturday 20 June
Classical Guitar Recital — 12:00–1:00 pm. Open to Nikos' students.
Piano Concert — 2:00–3:00 pm. Open to all piano students.
🎻 Saturday 27 June
Early Years Concert — time TBC.
Acoustic Concert — time TBC. Open to groups and choirs not performing in the Bandstand Concert.
🎷 Saturday 4 July
Bandstand Concert — 10:15 am–1:15 pm. Featuring:
- Rock & Pop 1 & 2
- Jazz 1 & 2
- Adult Jazz
- Innovate 1 & 2
- Groove Orchestra
- Samba
- Salsa
⏰ We will endeavour to schedule performances within each group's normal Saturday timetable slot wherever possible.
