Welcome to 2017!

Welcome to 2017!

01 January 2017

On behalf of YMM I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

This is such an exciting term for us as we celebrate 50 years of Young Music Makers. You won't want to miss any of it, so please get all of our concert dates and term dates in your diary now.

Due to popular demand, we are launching a brand new group: If you are a string player from pre-grade 1 to grade 3, come along to Junior Strings with Stefan, 1200-1230. It is the perfect stepping stone from Music Box 3 or beginner individual lessons, and encourages students to have fun learning string repertoire as a group before moving up to the more advanced String Ensemble.

Our 50th Birthday Concert is on Saturday, 25th March. In addition to the usual wonderful performances from all YMM groups, there will be some surprises and special guests! If you have photos or memories to contribute to our digital archive, please email music@youngmusicmakers.co.uk or use #YMMis50 on social media.

The newly announced Evening Jazz Concert will take place at St Luke's Church on Saturday, 29th April. As well as music from YMM Big Band and Junior Jazz, we are privileged to be joined by Vaskivuori Big Band and Hamis Big Band, all the way from Finland. Some of you may remember Vaskivuori's bandleader, Mika Karhunen, who used to teach Music Box at YMM!

We have appointed our first ever YMM Ambassador! As a Mercury prize-nominated recording and touring artist, this singer-songwriter is local to Kentish Town and supports the excellent music education we deliver. They will even be coming in to host a workshop with our students later this year... Identity to be revealed soon!
